Waterloo Regional Health Network (WRHN, pronounced wren) is currently seeking to hire an Orthopedic Hand Surgeon (full-time/part-time or locum).

Waterloo Region is a mid-sized community in the southwestern Ontario greenbelt. It is one of the fastest growing regions in Ontario and a leading technology hub in Canada with tremendous growth potential. It is home to 2 of the highest ranked universities in the country.

WRHN @ Midtown (formally Grand River Hospital) and WRHN @ Queen’s Blvd (formally St. Mary’s General Hospital) have undergone a voluntary merger and have well-defined and complementary clinical programs to serve both the local community and the region. Each hospital has acute care ED services with patient volumes reaching approximately 70,000 visits/annum. Queen’s Blvd is a Regional Cardiac Care Centre and a Centre of Excellence for Respiratory and Thoracic Care. WRHN @ Midtown hosts several regional programs including the Regional Cancer Centre, Hepatobiliary Surgery, and stroke, renal, pediatric and mental health programs.

Queen’s Blvd is home to the Regional Cardiac Care Centre (RCCC) for Waterloo-Wellington. In addition, the centre accepts referrals from Perth County, Grey-Bruce, Huron, Brant, and Oxford Counties, as well as Haldimand-Norfolk. The RCCC includes two state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization suites, two cardiovascular operating rooms, an eight bed cardiovascular intensive care unit and 64 inpatient beds. Emergency cardiac catheterization services and emergency cardiac surgery are available on a 24/7 basis.

The successful applicant will be joining a group of 8 orthopaedic surgeons and they will have the opportunity to do both general orthopaedics and specialized hand and wrist orthopaedics. In this position you will also have the opportunity to teach medical students and residents through our affiliation with McMaster University Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine and academic appointments are available.

The candidate must be eligible for independent practice licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. Advanced training in hand and wrist surgery is required.
