Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) is seeking a team-oriented professional Pediatric Anesthesiologist, to join our dynamic and expanding Department of Anesthesiology in Regina..The Department of Anesthesiology has a complement of 36 specialist Anesthesiologists and 1 Family Physician-Anesthetist with diverse interests. The successful candidate will join our team to provide comprehensive anesthesiology service to the patients of southern SaskatchewanOur services are shared between two sites. The Regina General Hospital is our trauma center representing all major surgical specialties, except transplant. Our Anesthesiologists provide full obstetric service. The Pasqua Hospital is a community hospital and referral center specializing in Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Urology and Pediatric OncologyElective OR runs from 07:45 to 16:00hrs. Our goal for Regina is to routinely operate 18 surgical theatres. Capacity is managed to allow for reduced theatres during holiday periods, allowing physicians and staff greater vacation opportunities. Call is 1:5 to 1:6 depending on holiday requests.The University of Saskatchewan is a research-intensive institution with 22,000 students and 7,000 faculty and staff, and a strong reputation for innovation and excellence. The College of Medicine has an intake of 100 students per year with a commensurate number of positions for residency training. The Department of Anesthesiology has distributed training sites in Saskatoon and Regina.

Qualifications:

  • Successful candidate will be a fellow (or be eligible for fellowship) with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in anesthesiology. Candidate should be eligible for licensure with the  College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. The ideal candidate will have Fellowship training in Pediatric Anesthesiology with experience in neonatal population.
  • Candidate should be team player, be able to interact effectively with patients, colleagues, staff and management, and function well in a high-volume environment with a commitment to provision of high quality patient and family centered care.
  • All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; in accordance with immigration requirements, preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents of Canada.
  • The SHA requires a criminal record check (CRC) from every potential SHA team member. The CRC must be dated within the past six (6) months and be satisfactory to the SHA. A vulnerable sector check is required for individuals providing patient/resident/client care to vulnerable persons.
