Practice Profile

SLMHC is a 60-bed hospital and 20-bed extended care facility and is a Centre of Excellence in First Nations and Northern Health Care. The SLMHC provides service to 28 First Nations communities surrounding Sioux Lookout and to the residents of Sioux Lookout, Hudson, Pickle Lake, and Savant Lake comprising of a total catchment area of over 35,000 in an area of 385,000 sq. km. Sioux Lookout, (pop. 5,600) is conveniently located in Northwestern Ontario between Thunder Bay, Ontario and Winnipeg, Manitoba surrounded by the rugged Canadian Shield, endless forest and an extensive lake and river system. • Locum assignments include OR time along with on call responsibilities

• OR slates M-F 0700 to 1500, on call starts at 1500 to 0800 on weekdays, and on call for the weekend

• surgical specialties include General Surgery, GP-OBS, Dentistry, and visiting ENT

• travel expenses and accommodations are reimbursed through Health Force Ontario.

Payment

• 2 Slates per day at $754.86/slate, on-call per diem of $1,258.10 per day, HOCC of $485.59 plus slates if called in and 38% of billings (all subject to overhead)

Qualifications

• Independent Registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO)

• FRCPC Anesthesia OR CCFP /Anesthesia

• 60 Bed Level with 2600 admissions annually

• 24/7 Emergency Department with over 23,000 visits per year

• CT

• PACs - fully digital diagnostic imaging

• Electronic Health Records (EMR)
