Job Description

Alberta Health Services in partnership with The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, invites applications for Clinicians with an interest in HIV based at the Northern Alberta HIV Program (NAP) Outpatient Clinic, Clinical Services Centre at the Kaye Edmonton Clinic (KEC), located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

 

The NAP provides assessment and multidisciplinary care for people with human immunodeficiency virus (PWH) in Northern Alberta. The program serves over 3,000 PWH representing a diverse population including marginalized groups such as patients with addictions, mental health conditions, housing instability, and language barriers.

 

The successful applicant will provide outpatient service at the NAP clinic. The scope of practice includes management of HIV including assessment of new diagnoses and rapid antiretroviral start; diagnosis and management of opportunistic and sexually transmitted infections; assessment and provision of indicated immunizations; screening for cervical and anorectal cancer; collaboration with the NAP multidisciplinary team including infectious diseases physicians, nurses, pharmacists, social workers, dieticians, and a counselor. Additional opportunities include liaising with community groups, participating in international conferences rich in scientific and clinical content, teaching, research, and quality improvement.

 

Clinic hours are 0800-1600 Monday to Friday. There is no expectation of after-hours or weekend work.  There is flexibility in the beginning to set what you would like your permanent schedule to look like and can be discussed further during the interview process – e.g. which days of the week work best; if you want 3 half days or 1full day and one half day, etc.

Qualifications

The successful candidate will be at minimum an MD with a College of Physicians & Surgeons of Alberta (CPSA) Practice Permit.  Training in Family Medicine or General Internal Medicine with, or without, a Fellowship in Infectious Diseases.

 

If required, training and education is available and depending on the situation, this may be paid or unpaid but can be discussed further during the interview process.
