Position Description:
The physician shall establish a comprehensive 0.4 FTE practice in Psychiatry as a Family Physician (3200 only) and provide shall provide inpatient at The Moncton Hospital and Mental Health Center in relation to your FTE. The physician will participate in the on-call rota of the department of psychiatry. The physician shall, when asked for, also provide clinical services deemed necessary by the chief of the department.

Job Duties:
· Provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient consultation-liaison services to the adult population from Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.:
o Provide psychiatric consultations and follow-ups for hospitalized patients on unit 3200.
o Provide consultation and follow-up services for patients referred from medical specialists’ outpatient clinics.
o Provide consultation and follow-up psychiatric services as needed for patients referred by family physicians.
o In-hospital consultations in care on the Psychiatry unit must be followed.
· Will be required to work at the Mental Health Centre.
· Organize group therapies and/or other needed services.
· Ensure adequate coverage for patients during times of absence, as defined by the Department Rules
· Honour consultation requests in a timely manner
· Provide telephone consultation to colleagues
· Teaching responsibilities for residents and medical students
· Teaching responsibilities for nursing and peers as appropriate
· Participate in departmental and other appropriate Psychiatry and hospital committees
· Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to address staff and patient education needs
· Practice in a collaborative fashion as a member of an interdisciplinary team and consult with members of other health professions as appropriate
· Participate in the use of departmental and corporate evidence-based rules of practice to ensure that expected standards of care are achieved
Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday -- 8:30am to 4:30pm in relation to a 0.4 FTE.

The candidate will be remunerated on a salaried model.
Qualifications:
The Department of Psychiatry requires that its active and courtesy members have passed the examinations of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the examination of la Corporation professionnelle des médecins du Québec. In circumstances where no Canadian trained applicants are available, the Department will consider physicians with American Boards who are able to obtain licensure in the State of Main. In special circumstances, foreign graduates who qualify for licensure in the Province of New Brunswick will be considered.
