The first of its kind in Canada, FNHA works as a health-and-wellness partner with BC First Nations to support self-determination and decision-making to improve health outcomes. The First Nations Primary Care Initiative (FNPCI) aims to improve access to culturally safe, quality primary healthcare services for First Nations people across BC in a way that is closer to home. Title:  Medical Director, FNPCI (First Nations Primary Care Initiative)
Salary:  $222,237 - $250,017 - $277,796 (Based on annual salary, pro-rated based on hours worked)  
Hours:  Employee at 0.2 FTE- 390 hours per year- averaging 7.5 per week (flexible)
Location:  Remote/Hybrid within BC (relocation required if outside of BC)

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Medical Director, FNPCI and Clinical Operations and Partnerships, you'll be at the forefront of transforming healthcare delivery for First Nations communities across BC, expanding FNPCI and related facilities, and fostering relationships with our First Nations partners. Being an advocate for culturally safe practices, you’ll be working with family physicians, specialists, and other care providers to ensure that the best quality of primary healthcare services are delivered to our communities. You’ll also be working collaboratively to lead FNHA strategies, strategic partnerships, health policies, and clinical operations for our Nursing Stations, Health Centres, and FNPCI sites. You come with creativity and innovative ideas for new healthcare initiatives and programs, while making sure to always prioritize a patient-centered and service-driven care experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Implements a culturally sensitive two-eyed seeing approach in primary healthcare development and delivery.
Establishes inter-departmental partnerships within FNHA to drive strategic initiatives.
Supports clinical leadership by identifying human resource needs and actively recruiting providers.
Provides clinical expertise for incident reports, complaints, and appeals, shaping FNHA's response.
Assists in addressing quality of care issues and provides guidance in emerging issues through participation in working groups/committees.

FIRST NATIONS PRIMARY CARE INITIATIVE (FNPCI)

Offers clinical oversight and direct support to Medical Leads in managing staff within FNPCI Program sites.
Collaborates with First Nations partners to implement the FNPCI model across British Columbia.
Ensures alignment of FNPCI activities with service delivery plans through liaison with clinical leaders.
Provides medical leadership for clinical service delivery at FNPCI sites, investigating and documenting complaints when necessary.
Supports smooth integration of new providers through adequate orientation and ongoing support.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will meet the following eligibility criteria:

Medical degree from a recognized institution
Full license or eligibility with the Current College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC)
Member of the Canadian College of Family Practitioners (CCFP) or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada

EXPERIENCE

5-8 years of recent and relevant experience in primary and community care preferred
Significant, recent and relevant experience working with Indigenous people, communities, or health organizations.
Demonstrated experience in a management and/or leadership role in a health service environment.
