Job Description

The St. Paul’s Hospital Division of Cardiology seeks an Interventional Cardiologist. Qualified candidates must have completed training in cardiovascular medicine and be certified or be eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia. The candidate should have at least 2 years of interventional training. The successful applicant will be expected to pursue an academic career with a research focus.

The successful candidate will possess exceptional communication and teaching skills; a demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level and supervision of undergraduate and graduate students. Candidates should have a strong track record of being able to work well in teams. Clinical responsibilities include interventional cardiology coverage at St. Paul’s Hospital. Interventional services include coronary angiography and intervention and transcatheter heart valve intervention. The position will be a graduated entry with an offer of 50% clinical time for the first 3 years and subsequent transition to a full-time interventional position.

This role will also be an unpaid clinical faculty position within the Division of Cardiology at the University of British Columbia (UBC). As part of the UBC Division of Cardiology’s academic focus, the successful candidate is expected to substantially support the development and growth of the UBC Cardiology research and education programs. The Division of Cardiology will support an appointment of Clinical Assistant Professor or higher, however clinical faculty appointments at UBC are assigned at a rank determined by the Academic Appointments, Reappointments, Promotions and Tenure Committee (AARPT) of the UBC Department of Medicine.
