ABOUT THE ROLE
In this role, as Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) you will support the mandate of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) and act on the CMO’s behalf when delegated or required. You will provide centralized and strategic focus to promote and protect the health and wellness of BC First Nation peoples and communities. You will also operate as a subject matter expert (SME) on health policy, primary care and population and public health in a First Nations context and as a champion for the First Nations perspective on Health and Wellness.
In this important work, you, as DCMO, will be a strategic leader who provides broad areas of leadership in: Environmental Health including climate change and planetary health, Health Surveillance, including communicable diseases and the toxic drug crisis public health emergency, Chronic Diseases including cancer and diabetes, Population Health and Health and Wellness Promotion.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role you will have/be:

• A Medical degree recognized in Canada;
• A Fellowship with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Population and Public Health or the Canadian College of Family Physicians or a Master’s Degree in Public Health;
• Eligible for a license to practice medicine in BC, in good standing with the relevant regulatory body;
• Significant, recent and relevant medical practice experience (usually acquired over a period of three years or more);
• Significant, recent and relevant medical practice in an Indigenous (First Nations/Metis/Inuit) setting is an asset (usually acquired over a period of three years or more).

The Pay Range is the minimum and maximum annual salary based on full time equivalent hours.

The top 10% of the pay range is for the incumbents who are industry experts in the job with the combination of exceptional experience and competencies needed to perform all duties and responsibilities at a superior capability level. Internal employee compensation will be determined as per the FNHA Employee Total Compensation Policy.
