• Infectious Disease Physician

Stevenson Memorial Hospital is seeking an Infectious Disease Physician-Consultant, to add to our dynamic team in the growing community of New Tecumseth.

The Duties and Responsibilities:

Expectations of the Infectious Disease Consultants:

1. An ID Physician will be a member of and attend the meetings of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee at Stevenson Memorial Hospital, in order to participate and bring forward relevant issues that may affect hospital practice, including regional, and global events of which the hospital should be aware and proactive or responsive as related to emerging or existing infectious disease management. The ID physician will provide current, evidence based best practice recommendations to the committee, and expert advice on priorities for the hospital, utilizing a hybrid approach of in-person and virtual participation.

1. An ID physician will respond to requests to lead or participate in the Outbreak Management Team periodically to assist with planning and implementing appropriate levels of response to identified, or impending local or hospital outbreaks.

1. The ID Physician(s) will be available to support ICPs and other clinicians for consultation and decision making relative to patient care, outbreak management, and response to emerging infectious disease threats with potential impact on hospital patients and personnel.

1. An ID physician will oversee the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program and work with the Clinical pharmacists and other members of the team to provide an annual report and recommendations for:

• Guidelines on Rational Prescribing of Anti-Infectives
• Surveillance of antimicrobial usage
• Formulary review and development

QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant must be a licensed physician in the Province of Ontario and Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.  Applicant must be eligible for appointment to the Credentialed Staff at Stevenson Memorial Hospital.
