Orthopedic Surgeon– Full-Time
Join our team in beautiful Northern Ontario!
The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is seeking three Orthopedic Surgeons, including an Upper Extremity, Revision Arthroplasty, and Sports Medicine Ortho, to join our innovative, multi-disciplinary referral and teaching hospital in Timmins.
At TADH, you have the opportunity to teach and mentor medical students and family medicine residents, through affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
You will also be joining a team that provides exceptional patient and family-driven care, in a supportive trauma-informed, and culturally safe manner. We are looking for passionate, driven individuals to join us in our Mission: Providing Exemplary Care to Northerners.
The successful applicant will enjoy:
- 3-6 OR blocks per month
- minor procedure time available (TBD based on need)
- 3-6 Fracture clinics per month supported by hospital staff
- The ability to tailor equipment based on preference
- Flexible call schedules
- Locum support
Position Requirements
Candidates must:
- have (or be eligible for) Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Orthopedic Surgery.
- be (or eligible to be) licensed to practice as an Orthopedic Surgeon in the Province of Ontario
- have (or be be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage
- have a subspecialty in foot and ankle or hand and upper extremity training
- have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care
Remuneration
Compensation is a combination of Fee-for-Service, a lucrative Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan, and a HOCC On-Call stipend.
Incentives
- The ability to participate in the Northern Specialist retention program, which offers compensation of more than $70 000 per year.
- The Timmins and District Hospital provides an incentive package up to $60,000 over four years.
- Applicants are eligible for a repayable interest-free loan up to $150,000.
- Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes an $94,000 incentive over a 4-year period for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a full-time practice in Timmins.

The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is a 229-bed district hospital serving a local population of 41,000 and a catchment area of 110,000. The Timmins and District Hospital is a fully accredited referral and teaching hospital and offers a full range of Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Maternal/Child, Long Term Care, and Mental Health and Addiction Services.
