Join our team in beautiful Northern Ontario!
The Timmins and District Hospital (TADH) is seeking an Orthopedic Surgeon for a full-time position. Subspecialty fellowship training in either Upper Extremity and/or Sports Medicine is considered an asset.
You will be joining a team that provides exceptional patient and family-driven care in a supportive, trauma-informed, and culturally safe manner. We are looking for passionate, driven individuals to join us in our mission: Providing Exemplary Care to Northerners.
You will join a cohesive and collegial team of four Orthopedic Surgeons (3 full-time, 1 part-time) with subspecialty practices including foot and ankle, trauma, and arthroplasty. You will be expected to provide general orthopedic coverage on call.
TADH supports various specialties, including General Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, ENT, OB/GYN, Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Radiology, Psychiatry, Addictions Medicine, and Nephrology. Our surgeons also have quick access to TADH's DI Dept., including CT and MRI.
Surgeons at TADH perform 1,500 inpatient and over 2,500 day surgeries annually.
At TADH, you can teach and mentor medical students and residents through affiliation with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.

Position Requirements
Candidates must:
- have (or be eligible for) RCPSC certification in Orthopedic Surgery.
- be (or eligible to be) licensed to practice as an Orthopedic Surgeon in Ontario.
- have (or be eligible to obtain) Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) coverage.
- have a subspecialty fellowship training in upper extremity and/or sport medicine.
Remuneration
Compensation is a combination of Fee-for-Service, a lucrative Northern Specialist Alternate Payment Plan, and HOCC stipends.
Incentives
- The ability to participate in the Northern Specialist retention program, which offers compensation of more than $70 000 per year.
- TADH provides an incentive package up to $60,000 over four years.
- Applicants are eligible for a repayable interest-free loan up to $150,000.
- Applicants can apply for the Ministry of Health Northern and Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative (N3R). The N3R Initiative includes a $94,000 incentive over 4 years for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who establish a full-time practice in Timmins.

The Timmins and District Hospital is a fully accredited referral and teaching hospital and offers a full range of Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Maternal/Child, Complex Continuing Care, and Mental Health and Addiction Services.
