Dryden Regional Health Centre (DRHC) is seeking anesthetists to locum in our rural healthcare facility and OR.  New grads, GP/A and RCPSC are all welcome.

Working at DRHC:

We are a 42-bed rural hospital, including a 3-bed CCU, 24/7 Emergency Department, and 2 modern OR theatres with 1 fully integrated MIS suite.  We have a regionally-integrated EMR (Meditech), on-site diagnostic imaging (CT, ultrasound, x-ray), laboratory services, and nearby pathology (Kenora). 

DRHC also hosts a Specialty Clinic that brings in visiting specialists year-round, supporting quality healthcare closer to home. This includes Orthopedic Surgery (knee, hip, spine), ENT, Plastics, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Rheumatology, Urology, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry. 

Our Emergency Department has 2 trauma beds, 3 observation beds, 1 orthopedic room, 1 mental health quiet/safe room, and 5 exam rooms.  We see an average of 45 ED visits per day, with ~70% of visits a CTAS 4/5.  

You are surrounded by support when you locum in Dryden.  Local and locum physicians provide 24/7 coverage of the ED, with local physicians providing 2nd on-call coverage and rotating hospitalist on-call.  Local General Surgeon and Anesthesia (GPA) are available on-site and on-call.  One local physician has +1 in OSS to cover C-sections, with 3 physicians rotating OBS on-call.  We have a robust team of clinical administrative staff, ward clerks, and experienced ED nurses to help you navigate the facility.

Compensation:

Clinical and on-call rates are remunerated as per our Northwestern Ontario Anesthesia Working Group Association APP contract.

Travel-related expenses are reimbursed as per Northern Specialist Locum Program (NSLP) - Respite Locum Rates:

Travel honorarium of $363.57 per necessary travel day + up to $1668.78 for each travel day to/from Dryden - up to $4,000 roundtrip!

Reimbursement for all accommodations and travel expenses (mileage, car rental, flights, etc.).

FREE parking on site. Locums also have free access to the Dryden Recreation Complex (fitness centre and pool) and the hospital cafeteria during their visit.
