Description
The University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine & Dentistry, Department of Medicine, Division of Neurology and General Internal Medicine in partnership with Alberta Health Services, invites applications for a General Internist to be based at the University of Alberta Hospital. Located in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, the Faculty has been internationally recognized as among the world’s top 50 medical schools and as one of Canada’s premier health-education institutions.
The position is to provide service on the NeuroMed inpatient service at the University of Alberta Hospital.
While on service, the attending physician is responsible for around 20-25 inpatients admitted under their care. The physician will provide consultation services to Neurosciences and when appropriate assume care of the patient.
Qualifications
The successful candidate must have experience managing Internal Medicine inpatients and caring for patients with neurological conditions. It is strongly encouraged the applicant has an outpatient practice so they can follow patients on discharge if required. The successful applicant must function well as part of a team and follow the work flow and expectations already established on the service. Leadership experience within General Internal Medicine would also be an asset for the position.
