Job Description

The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) – Saskatoon and University of Saskatchewan, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Rheumatology, invite applications for a Pediatric Rheumatology Clinician Scientist to join our growing and collaborative team in vibrant Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.

The Division of Pediatric Rheumatology in Saskatchewan seeks a visionary physician-scientist who is dedicated to improving the lives of children with rheumatic diseases within an environment that fosters cutting-edge research, exceptional clinical care, and exemplary education of future care providers and investigators.

This is a unique opportunity to join a supportive and collegial Division of Rheumatology within the Saskatchewan Department of Pediatrics that has a broad array of local, national, and international interdisciplinary connections. This position will allow the appointee to devote 80% of their time to leading laboratory-based, fundamental scientific investigation aimed at understanding the underlying mechanisms, causes, and processes of childhood rheumatic diseases with a view to improving care and developing strategies for prevention and cure. The appointee will benefit from access to state-of-the-art research facilities, core services, and supportive research infrastructure within the university. We are committed to fostering independent research programs to ensure that personal career goals are achieved. The opportunities to inspire and mentor medical students, residents, and graduate students will allow the appointee to shape the next generation of investigators and care providers.

The position will also include 20% of time allocated to clinical care of children with rheumatic diseases. The appointee will have the opportunity to provide specialized pediatric rheumatology care to a diverse population across Saskatchewan and contribute to developing and leading innovative clinical programs within Saskatchewan’s Jim Pattison Children's Hospital.

The new Jim Pattison Children’s Hospital offers state-of-the-art equipment and facilities for children, mothers and families from across our province. Centrally located on the University of Saskatchewan campus, our new children’s hospital offers brand new equipped two pediatric epilepsy monitoring units, combined new EEG and sleep lab, neonatal intensive care, pediatric intensive care, general pediatrics, pediatric emergency and ambulatory services. The 176-bed facility provides the highest quality of care and places Saskatchewan at the forefront of research and innovation.

Qualifications:

Candidates must hold certification or be eligible for certification in Pediatrics and Pediatric Rheumatology with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Saskatchewan. You should have a strong record of research productivity and a clear vision for an independent research program aligned with pediatric rheumatology. You are expected to have excellent clinical skills and a commitment to providing patient-centered care, a demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary research and clinical teams and have a passion for teaching and mentorship.
