Peterborough Regional Health Centre (PRHC) is a hub for advanced cardiac care in central Ontario, serving as a Regional Cardiac Centre of Excellence for five partner hospitals: Campbellford Memorial Hospital, Haliburton Highlands Health Services, Northumberland Hills Hospital, Ross Memorial, and Quinte Health – Bancroft. The cardiac program is supported by the on-site regional nephrology and hemodialysis program, vascular surgery and a Level 3 ICU.

The Opportunity

PRHC is seeking an Interventional Cardiologist to join our growing Regional Cardiovascular Centre of Excellence. The PRHC Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory annually performs, 2400 diagnostic catheterizations, 900 PCIs and 275 STEMIs. Our Philips Azurion labs are equipped with a comprehensive range of interventional tools, including Rotational and Orbital Atherectomy, Shockwave, and co-registered OCT, IVUS, and iFR/FFR. The successful candidate would join an existing group of four Interventional Cardiologists providing a full range of simple to complex coronary procedures. Interventional cardiologists also work as part of the broader General Cardiology group providing MRP and On-Call coverage in the CCU, telemetry ward, and for consultative services to the ER and throughout the hospital.

Position Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and with the community at large.
• Ability to integrate current evidence and best practice into delivering quality care.
• Demonstrated excellence in technical and analytical aspects of diagnostic cardiac catheterization and percutaneous coronary angioplasty, including the management of high acuity patients.
• Enthusiasm for ongoing skill development in more advanced angioplasty techniques.
• Proficiency in general cardiology including technical and cognitive skills required for acute management of ACS, CHF, cardiogenic shock and arrhythmias.
• Demonstrated ability to provide patient care to people from diverse populations in a considerate and respectful manner.
• Eligible for an unrestricted independent practice license with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
• Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
• Eligible for staff privileges at Peterborough Regional Health Centre.
