Job Description
The Department of Laboratory Medicine, Pathology and Medical Genetics at Vancouver Island Health Authority (Island Health) is seeking two full-time (2.0 FTE) Medical Microbiologists based at the Microbiology Laboratory at Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, BC. The successful physicians will join a team of five Medical Microbiologists and contribute to diagnostic laboratory oversight, teaching rounds, committee participation, infection prevention and control, antimicrobial stewardship, administrative responsibilities, and clinical consultation related to the diagnosis, management, and prevention of infectious diseases.
Experience in quantitative methods, quality improvement, molecular testing, and diagnostic stewardship would be an asset. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential. Vancouver Island is home to the Island Medical Program, a satellite of the University of British Columbia, and eligible candidates may be considered for a faculty appointment.
Applicants must be certified or pending certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Medical Microbiology and eligible for full licensure in British Columbia. The anticipated start date is as soon as possible and is negotiable.
