Locum Psychiatrist to join our Team!
Waypoint Centre for Mental Health Care is located in Penetanguishene, Ontario on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay, less than two hours from Toronto and approximately 45 minutes from Barrie. Outdoor recreational opportunities in all four seasons abound in this area of natural beauty. Waypoint is an academic and research hospital that provides specialized mental health, addiction, and geriatric care to some of the most complex and disadvantaged people in Ontario. As a 315-bed psychiatric hospital, we deliver exceptional, progressive care, both on site at the hospital and in the communities we serve across the region.
About the Opportunity:
We are currently seeking a Locum Psychiatrist to provide services on our Acute Assessment Program for the period of April 7th to 17th, 2026. This program provides inpatient assessment and treatment for acutely ill persons with mental illness from across the Central region of Ontario. As the attending psychiatrist for up to ten beds, you will work in a fast-paced environment with a well-resourced interprofessional team to treat a wide range of diagnoses, within a comprehensive mental health institution that provides acute, rehabilitative and ambulatory care.
Key Accountabilities:
· Provide psychiatric care for mental health inpatients, in a collaborative team environment with other health professionals including social work, nursing, occupational therapy and family medicine.
· Act as Most Responsible Physician (MRP) for management of psychiatric patient care, including attending team rounds and participating in interdisciplinary care planning.
· Complete assessments and admissions, deliver ongoing care, and arrange discharges
· Ensure timely electronic chart documentation that meets CPSO and Waypoint documentation standards
· Working collaboratively with a group of psychiatrists within our inpatient services in a collegial and supportive work environment.
· Clinical expectations are based around an 8 hour day with breaks and lunch.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Licensed for independent medical practice and in good standing with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.
- Fellowship Certification in Psychiatry from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or other certification that is deemed to be equivalent.
- Preference will be given to a candidate who is interested in contributing to our academic culture and who thrives as part of a collaborative team.

- Proficiency in English language skills. French considered an additional asset.
What we offer:
· Daily Stipend: $2108.43
· On Site Housing available at no charge
· Work schedule is Monday- Friday 08:30-16:30
· Supportive onboarding and training
