Alberta Health Services, Central Corridor, and the Department of Urology, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre, invites applications for a Urologist to establish a full-time practice in the community of Red Deer. The successful candidate will provide travelling specialist duties in other communities in Central Corridor, as required. This position requires a scope of practice that includes: Community Clinic, Inpatient & Outpatient Services, Emergency Consults, and Specialist On-Call Coverage.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC INFORMATON

The successful candidate will be required to have an independent community practice, participate in equal allotment of on call, operative time, cystoscopy time and clinic/consultation time.  

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Obtain and maintain an AHS Medical Staff Appointment and appropriate privileges to provide the Services;
• Abide by the AHS Medical Staff Bylaws, the AHS Medical Staff Rules and AHS policies;
• Establish and maintain full time community based practice within the community;
• Provide call assistance as per call schedules, including full time participation in the Urology call schedule, as required;
• Participate in quality improvement programs and initiatives undertaken within the Zone Clinical Department of Sub-Specialty Surgeries;
• Participate in relevant Continuing Medical Education (CME) programs;
• Contribute to and participate in other administrative responsibilities, as assigned;
• Work collaboratively with peers and care team colleagues in support of patient care

Once chosen, the successful candidate may choose to operate their business by joining an existing independent outpatient practice or form an independent outpatient office of their own. This is the candidate's independent business decision and will not be managed through the recruitment process.

Community Information:

Required Qualifications:

• Have or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta (required with application);
• Have or be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada Certification (RCPSC);
• Have specialty certification or equivalent in Urology, or currently be enrolled in a Urology Residency Program;
• Recent and relevant experience in all areas of practice required, as the Most Responsible Physician;
