Radiation Oncologist
Join Northeastern Ontario’s healthcare leader
Health Sciences North (HSN) is recruiting health care professionals who have a keen interest in affecting change within
its dynamic health care system. As the tertiary care referral centre for the entire Northeastern Ontario region, HSN serves
a catchment population of over 600,000 residents.
HSN is seeking a full-time Radiation Oncologist, to join its Radiation Oncology Group in a growing tertiary care and
academic centre in Northeastern Ontario. HSN is a modern, well-equipped facility that includes dedicated in-patient
oncology and palliative care beds. The collegial team of 7 Radiation Oncologists, 10 Medical Oncologists/Haematologists
and 3 GP Oncologists enjoy an active Clinical Research Department, which provides ample opportunity for clinical trials
participation, including performing clinical research.
HSN’s Radiation Program is equipped with five linear accelerators, two CT simulators, and auto contouring (Limbus). The
radiation treatment planning system is currently migrating to RayStation. Impac Mosaiq EMR provides a completely
electronic radiation and medical oncology charting environment. The centre also has an active prostate brachytherapy
program and HDR gynecologic cancer brachytherapy Program. HSN has a robust SABR program treating all disease
sites.
Applicants must be eligible for independent CPSO licensure and have obtained or be eligible to obtain specialty
qualifications in Radiation Oncology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
The successful applicant will be expected to obtain academic appointment with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine
University (NOSM-U) and support the academic mandate of the Oncology Department. Research opportunities are also
available through the Health Sciences North Research Institute (HSNRI).
