Job Description
The Division of Neurology, Calgary Corridor, is seeking a Royal College–certified General Neurologist for a full-time, fee-for-service position based at the Peter Lougheed Centre (PLC), with a joint ambulatory model spanning PLC and the Rockyview General Hospital (RGH). This is a new position created to expand neurological care across Calgary.
Ambulatory wait times for general neurology currently stand at 14 or more months, with approximately 1,200 to 1,400 patients on the waitlist. The successful candidate will help address this access gap and, by establishing an admitting presence at PLC and RGH, extend the Division's inpatient neurology footprint across the city — improving continuity for patients admitted through those centres and distributing on-call and outpatient duties more equitably among the existing physician group.
For this fee-for-service general neurologist appointment operating across a joint ambulatory model at PLC and RGH, with city-wide inpatient and call responsibilities. Specific responsibilities include:
• Providing ambulatory general neurology care three days per week at the Peter Lougheed Centre and one day per week at the Rockyview General Hospital.
• Holding admitting and consulting privileges at all four Calgary adult hospitals (FMC, SHC, PLC, and RGH) and supporting inpatient neurology and call coverage — including at PLC and RGH, where the Division does not currently have an admitting presence.
• Contributing a minimum of 8 weeks per year of inpatient service, each with an attached weekend.
• Providing approximately 2 nights per month of on-call coverage for two hospitals, participating fully in the Calgary city-wide call schedule.
• Teaching medical students and residents in both ambulatory and in-hospital settings.
• Participating in divisional activities, including departmental grand rounds and Division of Neurology meetings, consistent with standard divisional expectations.
To be considered for this role, applicants must apply via this portal with their cover letter and CV. In addition, 3 letters of reference sent to Trena Guest via email at ***@ahs.ca (🔒 Premium).

Community Information
Calgary offers an exceptional combination of academic medicine and quality of life: a large, collegial Division of Neurology, strong subspecialty depth, an active teaching and research environment through the Cumming School of Medicine, and ready access to the Rocky Mountains. The PLC and RGH catchment areas serve diverse and growing communities, and this role offers the opportunity to build dedicated general neurology services where access has historically been limited.
