FP/ER LOCUM opportunities!!

The Fort St. James Health Centre is seeking FP/ER locum coverage for various time frames over the next 6 months. Exclusive weekend Emergency shifts are available!! ER +1 is not required.

Locum dates can be customized to suit your availability and will be managed through Locums for Rural BC.

Locums are met by clinic staff on day of arrival. They are given a quick tour of town and shown where the clinic and hospital are located. They are then escorted to the locum accommodation.

For a typical 5 day assignment, you can expect a combination of in-clinic pre-booked patients, acute care clinic and on-call. On-call emergency department shifts are all 24 hours, 0800-0800.

EMR: MOIS. Training is provided on the first day by IT. Friendly support staff are available during clinic hours for any questions that may come up.

Travel: Flights within BC are funded and personal use of vehicle is reimbursed at $0.63/km

Accommodation: A fully furnished suite is provided, with great views of Stuart Lake and its amazing sunsets! The condo is pet friendly, however we ask that approval is obtained ahead of time. The condo is a quick 5 minute walk from the MXV gym, the Save On Foods, both pharmacies and the rest of what main street has to offer!

Join an Integrated team of dedicated physicians, a nurse practitioner, nurses, counsellors, social workers, medical exercise specialists and a large supporting office staff. We provide primary care services to the 5000 patient population in the communities of Fort St. James, Nak’azdli Whut’en, Tl’azt’en Nation and Binche Whut’en.

Regular office hours are Mon-Fri 9am-4pm closed 12pm-1pm for lunch, closed all statutory holidays. Appointments are booked at 20 minute intervals, with some 30 minute appointments throughout the day.

Acute Care Clinic is operated daily from 9am-12pm and 1pm-4pm. Physicians all rotate through the acute care clinic, with one physician in the morning and one in the afternoon being responsible for the patients.

*May be required to go to local FN communities to provide outreach services.

Community amenities: Sana'aih Market & Save On Foods, Banks, ATMs, Petro Canada, Suspenders General Store, Lakeside Pharmacy, Pharmasave, retail shopping, pet boarding, and fitness centre - Locum receives pass to local gym (MXV Gym).

Outdoor Recreation: Fort St. James and surrounding area is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts! In the summer enjoy hiking, mountain biking, off-roading, golf, tennis, baseball, soccer, as well as fishing, kayaking, canoeing and swimming on fabulous Stuart Lake. Paddle board rentals are available! Winter activities include curling and both downhill and x-country skiing as well as ice hockey.
