Job Description

We are seeking someone who is passionate about rural medicine and outdoor adventure. If you're looking to spend less time commuting and more time by the ocean, our Emergency Medicine opportunity might be for you. FTE is flexible from 0.25 FTE to 1.0 FTE. Outside of emergency medicine there are opportunities in primary care, anesthesia, surgical assists, OAT, long term and outreach to indigenous communities.

Join an incredibly supportive group of family physicians and specialists caring for the diverse population of Prince Rupert and the surrounding villages. This a unique opportunity to create the practice you want and achieve a work-life balance in a beautiful, coastal city.

CCFP-EM designation is not required. We will support those wishing to pursue the Practice Eligibility route to obtain the Certificate of Added Competency, or the Emergency Education Program through RCCBC. Coaching, mentorship, and buddy shifts are available for physicians requiring additional support while they transition into practice.

Prince Rupert Regional Hospital is a 30 bed facility, including 26 inpatient beds, 2 maternity and 2 high acuity. The Hospital is receiving $80 million in upgrades over the next few years. There are 4 primary care clinics in Prince Rupert.

Emergency Shifts are compensated via a Group Contract and are eligible for additional rural retention incentives. Shift times are as follows:

08:00 – 16:00
16:00 – 00:00
00:00 – 08:00
12:00 – 20:00

Prince Rupert is home to amazing wildlife and wilderness adventures, unique history and cultural experiences, and the spectacular scenery of the rugged Coast Mountain Range and the Great Bear Rain Forest. Easily accessible by air, rail, cruise ship, ferry or car, Prince Rupert’s attractions include First Nation cultural works of art, fine North Coast galleries and boutiques, parks and walking trails, restaurants and coffee shops. A balanced lifestyle might include enjoying a round of golf on the golf course or spending time out on the water kayaking, fishing, or taking in the scenery. Reasonable housing costs, organized sports, volunteer opportunities, modern recreation facilities, community groups and festivals all contribute to a comfortable and fulfilling lifestyle for those living in this community.

This posting is covered by the Provincial Health Officer’s mandatory COVID-19 vaccination orders and selected applicant(s) must comply.
