Applications are invited for 1-2 full-time interventional cardiac electrophysiologists at Royal Columbian Hospital, New Westminster, British Columbia to join an existing team of four interventional electrophysiologists. The successful applicant will be expected to be fully trained and with contemporary experience in complex device implantation, cardiac ablation including complex atrial and ventricular ablation procedures and to participate in the regional electrophysiology call schedule. They will also be required to participate in ambulatory services as determined by the needs of the clinical group and share a commitment to the general cardiology service at Royal Columbian Hospital.
The Royal Columbian Hospital is a tertiary provincial referral hospital located in New Westminster, BC. The site offers medical and surgical services, advanced diagnostics & imaging, interventional radiology, critical care, inpatient pediatrics, levels 1 & 3 obstetrics, neonatology/NICU, cardiac surgery, neurosciences, and other tertiary programs. The Royal Columbian Hospital presently has 440 acute beds and serves approximately 2 million people, representing around one-third of the population of British Columbia. It is presently undergoing a multi-year, multi-billion dollar redevelopment which includes the opening of a new acute care tower in mid 2026 which will increase patient capacity and operating room facilities including those for invasive cardiac electrophysiology. The Royal Columbian Hospital is a University of British Columbia affiliated teaching hospital with approximately 80000 visits annually and is a high-volume cardiac site with over 6000 diagnostic and therapeutic interventional cardiology procedures, approximately 1000 open-heart surgical cases, 800 electrophysiology procedures, around 1300 pacemakers and 500 high voltage device implants performed each year. With completion of redevelopment, invasive electrophysiology procedures and complex device procedures are projected to grow to 1800 and 900 annually, respectively.
The Royal Columbian Hospital is located within a 30-40 minute drive of downtown Vancouver. In addition to having access to the beautiful coastal mountains surrounding the region which boast legendary exposure to outdoor activities such as skiing, biking, climbing, hiking, and water sports, Vancouver also offers the many other cultural and artistic amenities of a cosmopolitan city.
Qualifications:
1-Must hold current CMPA membership
2-Must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia for independent specialty practice
3-Must hold FRCPC or equivalent
4-Experience in research, teaching and healthcare administration is considered an asset
5-Full/Part Time/Locum/Temporary: Full time, 1-2 positions
