Position Description:
Under the direction of the Family Medicine Department Head and the medical director for the area, the hospitalist performs non-specialized clinical work delivering general medical care to admitted patients in the assigned hospital facility.

Job Duties:
Duties include medical services related to the diagnosis and treatment of illnesses and may require working closely with various health professionals.
Hours of Work:
Based on the agreement set by the department/service head;
Evening and weekend on-call coverage shared among the department members.
Remuneration:
Sessional
Remuneration is by a sessional rate arrangement as outlined in the New Brunswick Physicians’ Manual.
Qualifications:
- Degree from a recognized medical school and residency granting a licence in family medicine;
A recognized medical school is a school that meets the following criterium:
- accredited by the Committee on Accreditation of Canadian Medical Schools (CACMS) or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) (in the United States);
OR
- listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools with a note for Canada under the Sponsor Notes tab;
- One to three years’ experience will be considered an asset;
- Any other combination of training and experience deemed relevant and equivalent could be considered;
- Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New Brunswick;
- Active membership in the Canadian Medical Protective Association or equivalent liability insurance association;
- Membership in the New Brunswick Medical Society;
- Privileges with Vitalité Health Network;
- Registration with New Brunswick Medicare;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
- Good work history (performance and attendance);
- Adherence to professional ethical principles, the Network’s management philosophy, and organizational values;
- Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network.
Expected Start Date:
As soon as possible
Incentives:
- Possibility of a financial incentive based on eligibility determined by the Department of Health ($100,000.00 accompanied by a 4 year return of service).
- Relocation reimbursement of up to $8,000.
About the Facility:
The Edmundston Regional Hospital has been part of daily life for people in northwestern New Brunswick since 1991. It is an acute care facility providing complex and critical care, surgical and ambulatory care, medical and long-term care, mother/child and mental health care. The hospital also has mobile clinics (e.g., infectiology and neurology).
This 169-bed hospital has a team nearly 90 physicians, over 1,000 employees, and 80 volunteers.
Its main mission is to provide high-quality care and services that meet the needs of the community.
