Position Description:
The Pediatric unit has 12 pediatric beds and the continuous monitoring module allows newborn who are not too ill to be cared for starting at 34 weeks and also allows the short-term non-invasive ventilation. Sick newborns are stabilized before they are transferred. The successful applicant will perform duties with considerable clinical independence in the diagnosis, care and treatment of medical disorders within the scope of his or her specialty. He or she will practice with independent judgment, deliver services to in- and outpatients, and act as consultant to other physicians. He or she will be responsible for pediatric care to the population in Zone 4. The candidate is expected to participate in the teaching of students and residents in medicine.

Job Duties:
This is professional medical work performed by certified specialists (those with a specialty certification as recognized by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of NB). Duties are performed with considerable clinical independence in the diagnosis, care and treatment of medical disorders within the scope of the specialty in which they are practicing. Work is performed with independent judgment, but findings and observations may be subject to supervision and assessment by the physician’s Clinical (Program) Department Head / Chief of Service / Program Director in which the physicians works. Review of work may also be supervised by the local and regional Chiefs of Staff and the zone’s Medical Director for the Regional Health Authority (RHA). The physician works within the accordance of the RHA Bylaws.
Hours of Work:
- Regular hours - 37.5 hours per week.
- After-hours and weekend calls are shared among all members of the Department.
Remuneration:
Salaried
The remuneration is based on a salary model with benefits.
Qualifications:
- Degree from a recognized medical school and postgraduate university degree in the field of specialization (Pediatrics);
- Certification from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC);
- Eligible for a licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of New-Brunswick;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Physical ability to perform the assigned work;
- Good work history (performance and attendance);
- Adherence to professional ethical principles, the Network’s management philosophy, and organizational values;
- Compliance with the rules of confidentiality set by Vitalité Health Network

Incentives:
- Possibility of a financial incentive based on eligibility determined by the Department of Health ($100,000.00 accompanied by a 4 year return of service).
- Relocation reimbursement of up to $8,000.

The Edmundston Regional Hospital has been part of daily life for people in northwestern New Brunswick since 1991. It is an acute care facility providing complex and critical care, surgical and ambulatory care, medical and long-term care, mother/child and mental health care. The hospital also has mobile clinics (e.g., infectiology and neurology).
This 169-bed hospital has a team nearly 90 physicians, over 1,000 employees, and 80 volunteers.
